Monthly MCLE Programs: New attorneys
and established veterans praise OCTLA’s interesting and informative
MCLE programs. Every month, OCTLA offers educational programs
taught by prominent attorneys, judges, appellate court justices
and other professionals. Our primary goal is to present topics
to help trial lawyers win cases.
Of course, members earn MCLE credit while making key professional contacts in
a friendly setting.
Mentoring Program: OCTLA’s commitment
to fostering the ethical and competent practice of law is exemplified
by its mentoring program. Member attorneys
who are newer to the practice of law (five years or less) will have
an unprecedented opportunity to gain counsel and insight from
experienced trial lawyers
on a one-on-one
basis.
The GAVEL Journal: OCTLA members receive our acclaimed quarterly
journal, The GAVEL, presenting cogent and timely trial techniques,
practice pointers,
and
new legal developments, on issues important to your practice.
The ADVOCATE Journal: In addition to the quarterly GAVEL Journal,
OCTLA members also received the Journal of Consumer Attorneys
Associations for Southern
California,

Learning by “trial and error” is not an option in today’s litigation arena. OCTLA members benefit from resources you’ll
find nowhere else, information that can help you get better results
for your clients.
Judges, Mediators and Arbitrators Evaluation Program: This
yearly program—strictly limited to consumer attorney members only—reviews
and evaluates judicial officers and ADR providers in Orange
County and surrounding areas to forearm trial lawyers with
crucial knowledge about the judges, mediators and arbitrators
who will decide their cases.
Case Evaluation Panel: Ever wish for
a second opinion on valuing a client’s claim or assessing an
asserted defense? OCTLA members can get an informal neutral evaluation
of a pending case by a volunteer panel of experienced member
lawyers. OCTLA Members wanting their case evaluated will complete
a simple online questionnaire that will be forwarded to a rotating
panel of three experienced trial attorneys. Within 2 weeks you
will receive a private on-line evaluation including the case
strengths, weaknesses, settlement value range, verdict value
range and other important comments or recommendations. Available
on-line only at www.OCTLA.org.
Hot Topics Newsletter: Each month, OCTLA members receive
(by fax or by e-mail) a one-page hot sheet, summarizing important
legal case developments, educational seminars and fun social
activities on the calendar.
